Information about yours truly

I finally remembered the password for this blog. Wow! That only took a year.

Anyway … I am enjoying the sales of Baby Talk. I am getting a lot of wonderful comments from everyone.

I have another book coming out this fall. It is called Teach Your Baby to Sign. The publisher is Rockport Publishing and the imprint is Fair Winds Press. The cover is done and it is absolutely adorable.

I am looking towards the future and I’d like it to be a future in writing. I have a few feelers out for future projects but would welcome any more networking that may come my way.

I’d like to develop this blog into something more than just the yearly post as well.

I am open to writing about almost any topic, even though my expertise lies in baby sign language. Unless I get the opportunity to do a sequel of sorts for the books I’ve already done I don’t anticipate any more books coming out on this subject, so I’m willing to delve into other projects.

I have a great interest in all aspects of parenting. I wouldn’t mind writing a book that combines natural parenting with mainstream parenting. Too often you pick up a book that is very strongly for one or the other and there is no discussion about merging the two in a healthy family.

I know that breastfeeding books have been written ad nauseam, but I have a lot of experience with it and wouldn’t mind making a practical real-life guide to it (i.e., breastfeeding an 18-month-old child at Kmart and she shows everyone your boob).

I already have a proposal out for a TTC book that hasn’t been picked up yet.

And of course, my lifelong dream - fiction!

For some reason the book didn’t seem to be absolutely, positively, 100% real until I found its listing on Amazon.com. Very cool, and very exiting.

Its publication date is September 21, 2006, and that seems like a very long ways away!

All text is complete (so far) for the book.

Can I call myself a writer now?

Finished Set One! This is approximately half of the text which will be going into the book. Such a huge relief to send it off.

The flatplan (an outline of sorts) for the book I am writing has been finished. I have signed the contract, and am going to be diving in headfirst into writing a book - my first.

Contacted by Ivy Press - there is interest in my writing a signing baby book! It will be published by the Tarcher imprint of Penguin (USA) and is expected to be out in Fall of 2006. It will be 128 pages and full of awesome illustrations, including over 60 signs. The tentative title is “Baby Talk.”
